ATV Adventure on Koh Kho Khao

While many know that Khao Lak and Koh Kho Khao are perfect destinations for a relaxing and private holiday, sometimes it can be a great idea to mix things up a little and dedicate a day or two of your vacation to something a bit more active and exciting. Today we wanted to highlight the ATV tour that takes place right on our island, Koh Kho Khao, just minutes away from our private villa resort.

The route for the ATV trip will take you around the local rainforests, fields and small hills. This is a great opportunity to explore the Koh Kho Khao island and you will be able to visit places that are normally not accessible during a regular sightseeing trip. In addition to that, you will have a very helpful and attentive guide to point out all of the nearby landmarks during your journey.

Starting from the center of the island, the trip doesn’t generally require a lot of previous experience and should be accessible even for beginners. For those who are not very keen on driving an ATV, there is an option to travel as a passenger so that you can still enjoy remarkable scenery and pristine nature of Southern Thailand and Koh Kho Khao in particular.

Every ATV tour will consist of an introductory session to familiarise yourself with the vehicle and get the hang of the controls. Another important part of your journey will be the stop at a north-western point of the 17km long Koh Kho Khao beach which will offer a different experience compared to the private beach in front of our luxury villa resort. You will have about 30 minutes to relax and take a dip into the warm waters of the calm Andaman Sea, something that is a must when you are visiting Thailand. A big advantage here is that unlike Phuket or Samui beaches, this part of the Koh Kho Khao beach is almost always empty of other tourists, which will give you the privacy that is often lacking when visiting a popular tourist hotspot.

Last but not least, you will have an opportunity to see the local wildlife, such as the buffaloes and cows that are often roaming the fields not far from the main road and the beach, as well as many local birds that populate all parts of Koh Kho Khao. If you are lucky, you might see some monitor lizards or even sea otters. It’s a great opportunity to take some memorable pictures!
